Welcome to the Summer Studio Program

The Summer Studio Program within the University of Guelph’s School of Fine Art and Music is an immersive program for artists in painting and printmaking who are looking to develop their practice in a dynamic and supportive environment.

This program is designed for students who are interested in applying to graduate school to further their skills, such as a Master of Fine Art (MFA), or mid-career artists who are seeking to enrich their practice.

For four weeks from May 29 – June 23, 2023, you will work alongside professional artists, instructors and faculty members within state-of-the-art facilities.

    Program Overview

In this program you will combine theory and practice through seminars and 1:1 critiques led by core faculty, graduate students, and visiting artists and/or curators.

    As an attendee, you will:

    • Have the time and space to continue to develop your work
    • Attend critiques where you can improve the oral presentation of your work
    • Receive critical feedback on your artist’s statement

At the end of the four weeks from June 26-30, 2023 you will display your work during a one week exhibition in the University of Guelph’s Zavitz Gallery for friends, family, and local professionals to see.
